Products – Soil & Mulches – Types of Mulches – Peatmoss
Peatmoss is made from sphagnum peat. It is grown, harvested, compressed, and packaged in the Canadian Peat Bogs. Peatmoss is a general purpose soil conditioner that has good water holding capabilities. It is slightly acid, making it an excellent mulch to mix with your soil when planting all acid loving plants, such as azaleas, rhododendrons, and japanese maples. Peatmoss is very fine so it is not the best mulch to mix in clay soils, but it works great in sandy soils.
